The Student Perspective: Back in Business

Sachem easily defeated Brentwood on Friday night by a score of 56-14. With a game against Lindenhurst next week, Sachem can make it three straight regular season Division I titles.

After a tough loss to William Floyd last week, Sachem was certainly looking to bounce back on Friday night when it took on Brentwood at home. This was North's Senior Night, so there was a lot of excitement not only on the field, but in the crowd as well.

Last week's road game saw Sachem struggle to move the ball offensively and a defense that had difficulty making big stops. This game, however, was a completely different story. Routing Brentwood by a score of 56-14, Sachem's clear-cut rebound game was an absolute romp.

The offensive wealth was widespread, as Dalton Crossan led the way with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown from quarterback Mike O'Donnell.

On only two carries, Malik Pierre had two scores and 136 yards, while Tyler Andreassi had two touchdowns, one of which was set up after Anthony Ross broke a big run to inside the 10 from within Sachem territory. Chaleek Williams also added a score.

With the 1986 Rutgers Trophy-winning Sachem Flaming Arrows on hand, the Sachem of today did not dissappoint. The drama aside, the most important thing to take away form this game is that Sachem looked sharp after their first regular season loss since the last week of the 2008 season.

Both the offensive and defensive teams looked focused and back to their usual form. Also worth mentioning was kicker Bryan Morris' performance, making all eight of his PATs, and putting each kickoff deep into Brentwood territory.

Next week, Sachem will look to lock up their third straight division title in a road game against Lindenhurst. With the playoffs in the near future, Sachem is riding high once again.
