Brookhaven Town Approves $330M Budget For 2023: Report

It will raise taxes by two percent for the average homeowner, Newsday reported.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Brookhaven officials approved a $330 million budget for 2023, raising taxes by two percent for the average homeowner and including some small raises for elected officials and the town's unions, as well as some new positions, Newsday reported.

The average home's taxes will go up by about $10.52 next year, a town spokesman told the outlet.

The budget includes two percent raises for Supervisor Ed Romaine, whose salary will increase from $129,000 to $131,000, and the town council members, whose salaries will increase from $75,238 to $76,742, according to the outlet.

Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro will receive a 5.5 percent raise, which raises his salary from $123,945 to $130,762, and the town's union employees will see a two percent raise, Newsday reported.

The budget also includes $203,297 for three new positions in the clerk’s office, animal shelter, and the harbors and waterways department, as well as $72,000 for a new driver to be shared by the parks and finance department, according to Newsday.
