BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk police officers were kept busy last week, according to the department's logs.

MEDFORD

A motorist found the glovebox of their car open with evidence that paperwork was rummaged through, and a pair of sunglasses was missing, on Southaven Avenue in Medford at around 11 a.m. on Feb. 28.

MIDDLE ISLAND

A 52-year-old man pried open an exit at Walmart in Middle Island at around 5:15 a.m. on Feb. 24 and made off with a bunch of blenders and other items, police said. Terrance Jones was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny on Feb. 28, according to a police spokesman.

Jones pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, and his bail was set at $2,000, $4,000 insured bond, and $20,000 partially secured surety bond, online court records show. He is being represented by the Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on cases.

PORT JEFFERSON

Someone reported that a previously issued check from HSBC was found altered at a location on Brewster Drive in Port Jefferson just after 2 p.m. on Feb. 27. The incident has been classified as second-degree forgery.


ROCKY POINT

A resident of Soundview Drive told police at around 4:13 p.m. on Feb. 26 that they were scammed out of some money by someone pretending to be from the Federal Trade Commission. The incident has been classified as first-degree identity theft.


RONKONKOMA

A Ronkonkoma resident told police that they found items, such as a window cover, and a barbecue, at their home disturbed but nothing removed at around 10 a.m. on Feb. 24


SHIRLEY

A Shirley resident reported finding their home's front door, back door, and kitchen window open and some property taken at 4 p.m. on Feb. 26.
