A snapshot of some recent police activity in the town.
BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — The reports below are excerpts from Suffolk police's 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th precincts that comprise Brookhaven Town.
Criminal charges do not indicate a conviction.
- A 15-year-old boy from Commack stabbed someone and stole drugs in a robbery in Bellport on March 16, police said. The teen, whose name was not released because he is a minor, waved a weapon at the victim and stole drugs in a robbery on Bellport Avenue at about 7:15 p.m., said police, adding that the victim complained of stab wounds and was transported for medical treatment to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue. No further details were available. The teen was charged with first-degree robbery and assault on Monday in Patchogue, police said.
- A Selden man wrestled a man to the ground before swiping his wallet in Coram on Friday, police said. Elliott Brown, 31, attacked the man on Middle Country Road at 4 p.m. on Friday, and when he was later approached by officers at about 1 p.m. on Saturday, he gave a false name, according to police. Brown was charged with third-degree robbery and false personation, police said. It is not clear if the victim was harmed in the robbery.
- A Bellport man pulled out what appeared to be a gun on a man at Horizon Village in Medford last Friday, police said. Thomas Shull, 38, also grabbed a woman's arm and held on to it as he "drove away slowly" during the 5:30 p.m. incident, according to police. It is not clear if either victim was injured. Shull was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon and reckless endangerment, police said. Orders of protection were issued and Shull was released on his own recognizance, according to online court records.
- Bagel Express on Bennetts Road in Setauket was broken into at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday and cash was stolen from the register.
