Car Crashes Into Pole, Overturns in Holtsville

HOLTSVILLE, NY – A woman was hurt after she crashed her car into a utility pole in Holtsville early Wednesday morning.

The single-car crash occurred on North Ocean Avenue, a half-mile south of the Long Island Expressway near the entrance to the Summerfield community, at 12:25 a.m. The Medford Fire Department responded to the scene and found an overturned vehicle with the driver trapped and wires down from a snapped utility pole.

Crews worked quickly to free the driver, who was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center via Medford Volunteer Ambulance Company to be treated for minor injuries. The road was closed for hours due to the electrical wires down.

Police did not identify the driver or release any other info.
