- Suffolk police investigating Sunday morning drive - by shooting in Centereach. A 42-year-old man was struck by debris off his car door after someone driving a dark colored Jeep shot at him in his vehicle. The incident happened around 10 a.m. on North Washington Avenue at a stop sign. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Sachem Patch)
- Pre-registration is now open for free Career Readiness series. "On November 9, the Town of Brookhaven Women’s Services Division will present its first session of the free Career EDGE Virtual Job Readiness series. This free program is designed to help unemployed and under-employed women gain professional skills, accelerate their job search, and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. The Career EDGE Virtual Job Readiness classes will be held via ZOOM on Wednesday mornings at 9:30am on November 9, 16, 23, 30 and December 7." - New report shows Suffolk officials were warned of possible cyberattack months ago. "A court officer in contact with an FBI agent tipped off District Attorney Ray Tierney's office back in June, indicating an event was “taking place in the county” and the tip was sent to Brian Bartholomew, an information technology coordinator for the county", according to an email obtained Newsday. The attack has devastated Suffolk County. (Sachem Patch)
