District Officials Pleased With Live Twitter Session
Public Relations Director Chris Vaccaro says another session with Superintendent Nolan is planned for February.

Yesterday's live Twitter session, whereby district residents were able to ask Superintendent James Nolan school-related questions, went swimmingly, according to the school's PR director and another one is planned for next month.
The superintendent fielded a variety of questions during the 1-hour session, from inquiries about the elementary school playgrounds, to the school's emphasis on academics. Chris Vaccaro, Sachem's PR director who organized and executed the live-Tweet, said the administration was "very pleased" with the turnout, and compiled the conversation here in a storify document.
Vaccaro is a proponent of social networking sites as a means of communicating with district stakeholders. The school operates an official Twitter account @SachemSchools.

"Providing a social aspect to our digital platforms is very important and we're looking forward to increasing our presence and strategy going forward," Vaccaro stated in an email to Patch. "With the 2013-2014 budget process upon us it will be extremely important to open up as many lines of communication as possible and social media provides us with that functionality."
Vaccaro said plans for the next Twitter session are in the works for February, and he is considering opening up the sessions to other district administrators who could speak to the community about specific topics. All live Twitter sessions going forward will be archived in a Storify document, Vaccaro said.
