Dress For Success Brookhaven Donates New Bras To Women’s Shelter

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Dress for Success Brookhaven donated over 100 brand new women’s bras — from Victoria’s Secret Corporate and Vanity Fair Lingerie — to the Madonna Heights homeless shelter for women and teens on Monday.

The 56-acre Dix Hills shelter provides 24-hour care to address the physical, emotional, and social needs unique to women and girls in an “empowering environment designed specifically” for them to “heal and thrive,” officials stated in a news release.

“We help build confidence, strengthen family bonds, and support the transition back home or to a home in the community,” officials stated in a news release.

The 22-year-old Dress for Success program is a not-for-profit that “empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the developmental tools to help them thrive in work, and in life,” officials said.

Brookhaven’s Division of Women’s Services and over 50 volunteers established the organization in 1999. Since then, it has been instrumental in helping over 6,000 women “achieve their goal of becoming self-sufficient and economically independent,” according to the news release.
