From the Lens ... Sachem in Pictures

A ramble on a beautiful day reveals a rust-colored and rusty suburban retreat.

Farmingville Hills County Park opened its hilly trails last summer, providing a much-needed local woodsy walking spot for locals. I visited the park on one of the first beautiful days of spring and found it nice and quiet, and mostly clean.

There were some surprises: the several classic cars that were parked there a couple decades ago could use some work.  These rusty metal relics camouflage themselves perfectly into the woods.  Each has a story. In fact, if you put some of these cars there, let us know why!

Each week Michael Savini uses his camera to tell a story about one part of the Sachem community.
