Good Samaritan Leads Cops To Woman Who Left Serious Crash: PD

Her 2020 Hyundai Elantra struck a man in Holtsville, then a witness followed her home where she was arrested, cops said.

HOLBROOK, NY — A good Samaritan who witnessed a woman drive away from the scene of a crash that seriously injured a man in Holbrook Thursday night was able to follow her home and alert 911 about the incident, Suffolk cops said.

Pauline Ross was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra southbound on North Ocean Avenue when the car struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway at about 10:20 p.m., police said, adding, "Ross continued driving away from the scene."

The man, a 50-year-old from Medford, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of "serious, but non-life-threatening injuries," police said.

A witness to the crash followed Ross as she drove to her home on La Bonne Vie Drive in East Patchogue, then called 911, and police officers arrested Ross at her home, according to police.

Ross, 71, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving serious physical injury, and she will be arraigned at a later date, police said.
