Gulliver's Travels, Narnia and The Fighter All Kicking

Check out list to see what's hot at Island 16 and Regal.

Since there are two major movie theaters in the Sachem community, each week Sachem Patch will list box office previews about flicks to catch at both Island 16 in Holtsville and Regal in Ronkonkoma.

Last week we ran the inaugural column listing the top movies at the box office. Each week the top movies won't change too much, so for this column we'll list five different movies to check out.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: This 3D adventure film is the third novel by C.S. Lewis and is set three years after the previous film in Narnia.

Tangled: The latest 3D film by Walt Disney Animation features the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy. According to Disney, it is largely based on the German fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm.

The Fighter: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams put together an all-star cast for a movie that retells the story of Mickey Ward's life and career. The fighter from Lowell, Mass. fought battles outside of the ring, but overcame personal odds to win a title and capture the spirit of his community and family.

Gulliver's Travels: Based on the 18th century novel of the same title by Jonathan Swift, the film stars Jack Black and takes place in the modern day and age. Black plays the character of Lemuel Gulliver and Catherine Tate is Queen of Lilliput.

Black Swan: Starring Long Island native Natalie Portman, the plot is based around a production of Swan Lake by the New York City ballet company. Two dancers learn about themselves, as they audition for roles to play a white and black swan in the production.
