Holtsville Man Charged in Home Burglary That Locked Down Sachem Schools

Incident occurred Wednesday morning.

A man was arrested Wednesday morning after burglarizing a Holtsville home in an incident that briefly caused a modified lockdown at three Sachem schools.

Police say Nicholas Rapone, 29, broke into a home on Honeysuckle Lane at 5:40 a.m. while the occupants were sleeping, and stole an iPod, iPhone and an iPhone charger.

Repone lives on Cougar Court, around the block from where the burglary occurred.

Following a police search, Repone was arrested at 7:45 a.m. and charged with second degree burglary.

Sagamore Middle School as well as Waverly and Chippewa elementary schools were placed on a modified lockdown until about 9 a.m. due to the police activity.
