Teen Dies From 'Medical Incident' At LI High School: Report

The 17-year-old was at an event at the school when she suffered from a medical episode on Monday night.

FARMINGVILLE, NY - An incoming high school senior died while at Sachem High School East on Monday night, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham said in a statement.

"It is with deep sorrow that the district has learned that an incoming senior at Sachem North High School tragically passed away last night," Graham said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual’s family and friends during this difficult time."

The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Suffolk Police confirmed to Newsday that officers responded to a call at the school at 9:15 p.m. for "a sick or injured person."

The 17-year-old female was at an event at the school when she "suffered a medical incident," Suffolk police told Newsday. She was then taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her death appears non-criminal.

No further information has been released.

Support services will be available as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday at both high schools.

Last August, 16-year-old Joshua Mileto died after suffering an injury during an off-season football workout at Sachem High School East.
