FARMINGVILLE, NY – A 16-year-old boy died after suffering an injury during an off-season football workout at Sachem High School East in Farmingville Thursday morning, Suffolk Police said.

The accident occurred during a strength and conditioning camp, police said. Practice for the fall season officially starts next Monday.

The log that fell on Mileto was reportedly about 12-feet long and the diameter of a utility pole.

"It's very big," former Sachem East football player Carlin Schledorn told ESPN. "It's like a tree, and it's a challenge for people who weight lift. Five or six people do it at once. I feel horrific for the team and coaches because I know them and they are all great men."

The Sachem East Touchdown Club has established a GoFundMe page for donations to Mileto's family during their time of need.
