Lake Grove Man With 45 License Suspensions Arrested After Crash

A Lake Grove man whose license has been suspended or revoked 45 times was arrested Friday night in Nesconset after police say he crashed his motorcycle into a car in Nesconset.
According to police, James A. Tomassi, 32, was riding an unregistered 2002 Suzuki north on Old Nichols Road when his motorcycle collided with a 2000 Toyota at 6:55 p.m. at the corner of Smithtown Boulevard.

Fourth Precinct Patrol Officer Richard Regula responded to the scene and upon further investigation, it was determined that Tomassi’s license had been suspended/revoked 45 times since 2001, police said. Those suspensions include 30 scofflaws on 13 separate dates, police said.
Tomassi is charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He also received 10 traffic-related summonses. He was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
