Medford Man Stabbed Girlfriend To Death In Holtsville: PD

A 49-year-old man was arrested in the Hudson Valley and charged with second-degree murder, police say.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — A Medford man has been charged with second-degree murder after Suffolk police say he stabbed his girlfriend to death in Holtsville last week, Suffolk County police said.

Wayne Chambers, 49, was arrested Friday in Newburgh, New York, by Homicide Squad detectives, along with members of the City of Newburgh Police Department, the New York State Police, and United States Marshals Service, police said.

Chambers will be held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden for arraignment on Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said that at about 8 p.m. last Thursday night, a neighbor in Holtsville heard Sandra McIntosh, 46, of Medford, crying for help, found her stabbed to death, and a car was seen leaving the scene. McIintosh was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
