Mirando Takes 2nd Place In Elimination Round

After adding a contestant the previous night, Master Chef eliminates Felix Fang.

Frank Mirando took second place for his corn-based dessert dish on last night's episode of "Master Chef," getting edged out by what appears to be his main competition, Becky Reams.

The Holtsville native whose journey Patch has been following for a number of weeks, will be the captain of next week's challenge once again. Mirando was the captain of the cattle ranch challenge and won the day handily. He'll go up against Reams in a contest that involves taking over a live restaurant for a night.

With David Martinez winning the "Mystery Box" competition by serving up a masterful dish of prawns, he was given the opportunity to pick one basic ingredient from which the other chefs had to create a dessert. Martinez chose corn, and made a corn infused rice pudding that was described by Judge Joe Bastianich as "unedibly disgusting."

In the end, the judges sent home Felix Fang, whose dessert was apparently worse off than Martinez.

The count is now back to six contestants. "Master Chef" airs on Fox on Monday and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m.
