Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Lake Grove Crash

A Selden man is in critical condition after he crashed his motorcycle into the rear of a pickup truck Monday morning in Lake Grove, police said.

According to police, Mark Ammirati, 49, was traveling west on Middle Country Road, approaching the intersection at Hawkins Avenue, when he crashed his 1998 Yamaha motorcycle into the back of a 2000 Toyota pickup truck that was stopped at a red light at about 10:10 a.m., police said.

Ammirati suffered serious injuries to both of his legs and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
