Out to Eat: B.L.D.'s
Local joint has great breakfast, lunch and dinner as the name says.
B.L.D.'s Restaurant in Ronkonkoma is the go to place for great food and a homey atmosphere. The restaurant, like their name, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with breakfast being served all day. The customer is always their number one concern and the majority of their customers are all familiar faces.
When you walk into the restaurant the wall behind the register is filled with pictures colored by B.L.D.'s younger patrons with praises about how much they love the restaurant, which has a mixture of tables and booths and is decorated the same way you would imagine Grandma's kitchen to be decorated.
The have new specials every month. In May all moms get 10 percent off of their bill Monday-Thursday when they bring in a picture of their children or grandchildren. They also host Hot Rod Night in the parking lot every Wednesday and offer a discount to any customer that brings a car to the meet.

Breakfast offers a large selection of pancakes, waffles, eggs and combinations platters. Their pumpkin and crepe pancakes (served with ligonberries, orange marmalade or lemon butter) are popular among customers as well as my personal pick for breakfast. Lunch and dinner is comprised of a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, pasta dishes, seafood and steak.
Prior to this current visit I had only been to B.L.D,'s for breakfast and have yet to be disappointed with the food or service. On this afternoon the Ultimate Classic Club and, upon the manager's recommendation, the Cheddar Turkey Melt were sampled. The Ultimate Classic Club was piled high with turkey, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on toasted white bread. The turkey was fresh and moist, the bacon perfectly crispy with just the right amount of mayo. Among the many club sandwiches I have tried, this was definitely among the top contenders.

The Cheddar Turkey Melt had turkey with sliced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and thousand island dressing on grilled parmesan rye bread and can be served with or without bacon.
The recommendation was well advised as the sandwich was piping hot, the cheese melted and the turkey moist with just the right amount of thousand island dressing. The parmesean rye bread was robust in flavor and perfectly grilled with some melted parmesean cheese on the outside of the bread.
I chose to have the sandwich without bacon and to me it was perfect as is. Both sandwiches were served with a side of French fries and a pickle. The french fries were crispy with just the right amount of salt. As someone who can only eat French fries if they are doused in ketchup I can assure you that these fries were delicious enough to be eaten sans red sauce. Both sandwiches were huge and I could barely finish my portion. Though the dessert selection was incredibly tempting (with banana split, waffle sundae, carrot cake and cheesecake as some of the choices) I had to pass knowing I couldn't possibly fit another bite.
As someone who has only been to B.L.D.'s for breakfast and a big fan at that, I can say that I am truly looking forward to my next visit for lunch. Be sure to check out one of the best places to eat in Ronkonkoma. With their great tasting home cooked style food B.L.D.'s Restaurant truly lives up to their that they are "Your home away from home."
