Police: Motorcyclist Killed, 4 Hurt in Centereach Crash

A motorcyclist from Selden was killed and four others, including a Ronkonkoma woman, inside an SUV were hurt in a crash in Centereach Tuesday night, police said.

According to police, Daniel Gutierrez, 24, was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle west on Middle Country Road, near Rustic Road, when his motorcycle collided with a 2004 Hyundai SUV that was heading east on the same road at about 9 p.m. 

Gutierrez was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the SUV, 20-year-old Samantha Brenkert, of Ronkonkoma, and the three passengers in her vehicle were transported via Centereach Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

The motorcycle and the SUV were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone who witnessed this crash and has not been interviewed by police to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
