Police: Ronkonkoma Man Charged in Two Bank Robberies

A Ronkonkoma man was arrested on Friday and charged with robbing two banks this week, police said.
Thomas Bosco, 30, was arrested after he robbed a Huntington Station bank Friday afternoon, police said.

At about 1 p.m., police said Bosco entered the Roslyn Savings Bank, located at 693 East Jericho Turnpike, approached a teller, threatened the teller with a handgun and demanded money.
Bosco was given cash and then fled the scene in an SUV described as a Jeep, police said.

Based on the broadcasted descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle, First Precinct officers James Spoerel and John Farley initiated surveillance for the vehicle, police said.
The officers spotted a Jeep matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle a short time later on Route 110 in East Farmingdale. The officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle on Fulton Street in Farmingdale.
The driver of the vehicle, Bosco, was identified as the bank robbery suspect and was taken into custody, police said.
Investigation by Pattern Crime Unit detectives revealed Bosco was also responsible for robbing a Capital One Bank in Bohemia on Wednesday, police said.
Bosco, who is a freelance handyman, also stolen tools from clients while on job sites in Melville and Mount Sinai, police said.
Bosco is charged with first degree robbery, third degree robbery and two counts of grand larceny. He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arrainged at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information on these incidents, or who may have been robbed by Bosco, to contact Pattern Crime Unit detectives at 631-852-6295.
