Police: Teen Motorcyclist Killed in Selden Crash

Fatal crash occurred on Middle Country Road Wednesday night.

A 19-year-old was killed Wednesday night when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Selden, police said.

According to police, Daniel O’Brien, of Selden, was riding a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle east on Middle Country Road, west of Boyle Road, at 9:24 p.m. when he crashed into a 2006 Ford Freestyle that had been heading west on Middle Country and was attempting to make a left turn into a shopping center located at 1070 Middle Country Road.

O’Brien was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Ford, Glenda Chan, 52, of Selden, was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone who has information about the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
