- Activists protest Sloth Encounters. After the business received numerous violations, protestors gathered outside Islip Town Hall on Tuesday to demand the Islip Town Board shut down Sloth Encounters. The protests were organized by Humane Long Island, and you can hear what protestors had to say in the link. (Patch)
- When to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower in New York. The meteor shower will peak on Thursday night into the early morning Friday. Thursday night will also be the third and final supermoon of the year, with clear skies expected. (Patch)
- ICYMI: Firefighters battle brush fire Tuesday in Brookhaven. The fire closed all lanes on Sunrise Highway at exit 57 and as of Tuesday night 6 acres have burned. 100 firefighters responded from 14 departments to get the blaze under control. (Sachem Patch)
