First, today's weather:

Winds becoming strong. High: 58 low: 53.

Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:

  1. Take a look at the Brookhaven Town Police Blotter from March 30. "A Selden man wrestled a man to the ground before swiping his wallet in Coram on Friday, police said. Elliott Brown, 31, attacked the man on Middle Country Road at 4 p.m. on Friday, and when he was later approached by officers at about 1 p.m. on Saturday, he gave a false name, according to police. Brown was charged with third-degree robbery and false personation, police said. It is not clear if the victim was harmed in the robbery." 2. Sachem weather report for the weekend ahead. This week has seen some of the coldest March temperatures in years, but the good news is we will be able to squeak out a beautiful day Saturday. Friday brings rain in the morning with clearing later in the day, and Saturday will be a beautiful spring day with a high of 55 and sunny skies. Sunday brings more rain which will be the common theme over the next week. (Weather.com)
  3. ICYMI: New York State residents have the highest tax burden in the country. A recent study by WalletHub concluded that New York State has a 12.75% tax burden, making it the highest. The burden takes into effect property taxes, individual income taxes, and sales and excise tax. In a recent other study we posted, New Yorkers are also fleeing from the state at a much higher rate than the majority of other states. (Patch)
