🌱 Sachem Daily: Friday Morning Snow + COVID-19 Cases Under 200

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

(Patch Media)

Good day, neighbors! It's me again, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Sachem Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and much colder. High: 33 low: 31.

Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:

  1. Winter weather will make for a rough commute Friday morning. Has this month been the weirdest weather we've ever had in February? From record breaking temperatures to almost two feet of total snow, it has been so unpredictable. The high temperatures in the Sachem area reached almost 70 degrees on Wednesday, but snow and freezing rain will be back for Friday morning. Accumulations will be from 1-2 inches, mixed with sleet and freezing rain. Make sure to leave earlier in case there are poor road conditions and drive carefully! (Patch)
  2. COVID-19 positive cases under 200 in the most recent report. As we continue to move past the Omicron surge, positive case numbers keep dropping. In the latest press Suffolk County press release from Feb 24, only 176 Suffolk County residents tested positive for the virus. That brings the 7-day average to just 2%. You can see detailed statistics in the daily press release. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Check out recent Town of Brookhaven arrests from the Suffolk Police blotter. You can take a look at recent arrests which include many burglaries in this report. That has been the common theme lately and we urge you to keep your doors locked at all times and have cameras at your property. If you have any information on a crime, call Suffolk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. It's completely anonymous. (Sachem Patch)
