The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

(Patch Media)

Hello there, Sachem. I'm here in your inbox this morning to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town.

First, today's weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 86 low: 68.

Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:

  1. Fire at Ronkonkoma home Thursday night. Firefighters were called to the North Seventh Street home at about 10 p.m., and the cause of the fire is under investigation. (Sachem Patch)
  2. Former LI U.S. Marine planned attack on synagogue and other heinous crimes. Matthew Belanger, 25, a former resident of Selden, was arrested on June 10 in New York. "Prosecutors say that Belanger, while still a Marine, trained with airsoft guns in the woods of Long Island as part of a plot to attack the 'Zionist Order of Governments' and he was the subject of a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Joint Terrorism Taskforce for plotting to 'engage in widespread homicide and sexual assault,' according to a court memo obtained by Rolling Stone." (Sachem Patch)
  3. ICYMI: Holbrook staple The Aegean Italian & Greek Pizzeria set to close next week. The pizzeria has been in business for over 50 years and has been a pillar of the community. The restaurant posted on social media Monday night saying, "We live in extraordinary times, which have made it impossible for us to keep Aegean's doors open and keep providing the same high quality of serving that you became familiar with over the last five decades." (Sachem Patch)
