- Workers at Farmingville Starbucks vote 13 to one to unionize. Employees feel that COVID-19 brought out the poor work conditions at the location, and they join over 200 Starbucks stores that have unionized. "We are super excited that all of our hard work has finally come into fruition. We hope more stores will join the fight and collective bargaining will begin soon," Sam Cornetta, a Farmingville, New York union partner, said in a statement. (Sachem Patch)
- Nokomis Elementary students donated $1,056 to Last Chance Animal Rescue. The money came from a bracelet sale along with students creating adoption ads that were posted to the rescue's social media pages. (Press Release Desk)
- Suffolk Police Arson detectives investigating Centereach fire. The fire broke out just before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning at a home on Pleasant Drive. "The chief reported the fire was fully-involved inside of a large, detached garage, and firefighters began to attack the fire with deck guns and hose lines upon, while the Selden Fire Department used its master stream to help extinguish the blaze and get the fire under control, according to department officials."
