- Town of Brookhaven celebrates Arbor Day with annual "Free Tree Seedling, Mulch and Compost Giveaway." The event took place April 29 at Town Hall in Farmingville where free mulch and compost were handed out. The free mulch and compost will still be available while supplies last. (Press Release Desk)
- Police found two dead at a Selden home. Police had been looking for Ian Saalfield, 45, who was reported missing on April 26 by his wife. On Tuesday night police were responding to a home on Hollywood Drive when they discovered two male bodies. Saalfield and the homeowner, 58-year-old Robert Julian, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating if the shooting was the result of a "drug trade." We will keep you updated on the ongoing investigation. (Sachem Patch)
- Sachem East holds fifth annual Career Connection event. Forty-five businesses attended the event where students could apply for internships and learn from experts on what avenue they could take for their future careers. "I had the pleasure of going to the career event and I enjoyed this event and feel it had an impact on the way I view the careers available in my future," said student Steven Azzara. "My eyes were opened to jobs I would have never thought of doing or even knew existed." (Press Release Desk)
