- Mother's Day 2022 brunch guide. Mother's Day is less than two weeks away, so make your brunch plans now. We have compiled a list of all restaurants in the area that are open Sunday, May 8 where you can take your mother for brunch. Don't forget to make a reservation before they fill up. - Stun gun found in Holbrook drug bust. A pair were arrested on drug charges on Dolphin Ln. in Holbrook Thursday night. "Gerald Matzen was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for an incident in which officers found crack cocaine, multiple cell phones, and digital scales during the execution of a search warrant of his car back on Dec. 30, police said." He was on parole and had an outstanding warrant and was also charged for the stun gun. (Sachem Patch)
- Town to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday. "The Town of Brookhaven will hold its annual tree seedling, mulch and compost give away in the South Parking Lot of Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville from 3-6 p.m. It's all part of Supervisor Ed Romaine's "Greening Brookhaven" initiative. Mulch and compost are available in bulk only, so residents must bring shovels and containers to load it into their vehicles. - Free supplies for pick-up starting May 2 as part of the Great Brookhaven Cleanup. The cleanup is part of a national effort to remove trash, debris, and other items from roadways, lakes, and more. You can pick up supplies at Town Hall from May 2 to May 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Press Release Desk)
