🌱 Sachem Daily: NYS Workforce Drop + No More Daylight Savings?
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Sachem Daily.
First, today's weather:
On-and-off rain and drizzle. High: 54 low: 47.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Sachem:
- New York State sees a 7.6 percent decline in the workforce. New York had the third highest decline in the workforce in the country between 2017 and 2021. Only Hawaii and Washington had higher rates of decline. All industries were taken into account. The decline most likely has to do with the number of residents who have left the state in the last few years. (Patch)
- Daylight savings may be coming to an end. Is it finally time that changing the clocks twice a year comes to an end? That's what the U.S Senate thinks after they voted unanimously on the "Sunshine Protection Act". "The act of springing clocks back and forward is an antiquated pain, not to mention a safety and health hazard," Senator (D) Skoufis said, adding that studies suggest a later sunset could lead to a reduction in energy consumption, crime, and vehicular/pedestrian fatalities. (Patch)
- ICYMI: Selden woman struck by car and killed in Coram Monday night. Elizabeth Martinez was walking on North Bicycle when she was struck by a man driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe at 7:35 p.m. She was transported to Stony Brook hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured. (Sachem Patch)
