Sachem East Guard Commits To Wagner College

Sachem East offensive lineman Michael Marchello has committed to play football at Wagner College on Staten Island in the fall of 2013. Marchello intends to play defensive tackle when he joins the Seahawks.

Marchello, a senior, was part of Sachem East's dramatic run to the Suffolk County Championships last fall. The experience will likely help him contribute to a Seahawks team that won the NEC Championship last year for the first time in school history. The team advanced to the NCAA playoffs and defeated Colgate during their run.

"It's a great school with a beautiful campus," Marchello said in an emailed statement. "My first time there I loved it. They have a great team with a great coaching staff that I would love playing for. Plus it's not too far away from home. It just felt right."

Marchello will play under Head Coach Walt Hameline, who will be clocking his 33rd season at the helm.
