Sachem Extreme Win Long Island Cup Soccer Title

The Sachem Extreme (Girls U11) captured the Long Island Cup championship on June 15 in the Major division, beating the Levittown Wildcats 2-1 in a thrilling overtime game for the title.

Sachem scored an early goal and held the 1-0 lead until Levittown tied the game with less than two minutes left in regulation. Less than two minutes into the extra session, the Extreme scored the game-winning goal off a throw-in to take home the championship banner.

“The game was fantastic from beginning to end. Our defense has been the key to our success this season and didn't let us down today,” said Mike Furey, head coach of the Extreme, after the championship game.
