Sachem North Arrowettes Defend National Jazz Championship
Dance team competed at the NDA Nationals in Orlando and held onto the Jazz crown they earned last year.

The Sachem North Varsity Arrowettes have successfully defended their Small Varsity Jazz Championship at the NDA Nationals competition in Orlando this past weekend.
The Jazz category holds 28 other routines, which, according to coach Katie Prusinski, is a large pool of competition. The Arrowettes scored first place in the preliminary rounds and held the spot to secure its back-to-back championship title.
"To say this team danced amazing this past weekend is an understatement," Prusinski stated in an email. "They performed under a large amount of pressure and still blew everyone away with their passion for dance!"

The Arrowettes also received an Innovative Choreography award for that jazz routine, which was dedicated to the memory of Sachem North JV coach Samantha Liberti who passed away last year.
The team scored well in other categories in addition to the Jazz title. Its hip-hop routine received third place with a Technical Excellence award, the pom routine received third place with an Innovative Choreography award and the Team Performance routine received third place with a Superior Showmanship award. Sachem North placed fourth and runner up in the overall Grand Champion rankings for the entire competition.

"As their coach, I am at a loss for words," Prusinski stated. "I have never been so excited to watch a team dance than I was to see them on that stage at Hard Rock Live in Florida. Not only are they talented, but they are the nicest and most hard working group of girls you could meet.”
