Sachem North Boys Fall To Ward Melville
Patriots go on a run in second quarter, put game out of reach in 17-6 victory.
The Sachem North Boys Lacrosse Team extended its skid to two games with a 17-6 loss on Tuesday to Long Island powerhouse Ward Melville at Fred Fusaro Stadium.
Sachem North (2-3) put together some good-looking scoring tries but were unable to string enough together to make up for a run of goals from the Patriots who led 11-3 at one point. At certain minutes of the game, Ward Melville held possession for multiple shot chances, scooping up rebounds and hustling to the end lines to maintain possession.
"We didn't clear the ball, and when the ball went on the ground we didn't get the ball," Coach Jason Mauro said. "And when [Ward Melville] got it they took care of their opportunities."

"Believe me we're gonna learn from it," Mauro said. "You can't harp on it because we have a game on Thursday. The season is a marathon it's not a sprint. At the end of the day we have to make sure that we learn from our mistakes and move forward."
Leading the scoring for Sachem North was Shane Deboer with two goals. Joe Caridi, Sean O'Brien, Jimmy Hoffman and James Piccirillo each had a goal as well.
