Sachem School District Officials Appoint New Admin For Counseling

Kevin Miller called Sachem his home and looks forward to students "reaching their full potential and pursuing their passion."

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — The Sachem Central School District has appointed Kevin Miller the new administrator for guidance, college, and career counseling, according to a news release.

Miller, who has worked in the district for 18 years, previously served as the assistant principal at Seneca Middle School where he supervised several departments, communicated with students, faculty, and parents, held formal, and informal observations, and oversaw the building’s master schedule, according to officials.

In this administrative role, Miller served as the director for SCOPE Educational Services' Saturday Enrichment Program, coordinating middle and high school enrichment for over 100 students, officials said.

Before being an assistant principal at Seneca, Miller was the assistant principal at Sachem High School North for eight years, according to officials. He started in the district as a social studies teacher in 2004, officials said. He was named Sachem North Teacher of the Year and the Sachem Central Teachers’ Association Educator of Tomorrow Award winner multiple times, according to officials.

Miller, a Sachem alum, stated in the news release that he is very excited to be working with students and their families across the district."

“Sachem is home and I sincerely look forward to assisting all students in reaching their full potential and pursuing their passion,” he added.

He received his doctorate in effective middle to high school transition practices from St. John’s University, and his master’s degree and advanced graduate certificate from Stony Brook University. He is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College.
