Sachem Student Approached by Man at Bus Stop
BREAKING: Two men fled the scene when the student's grandmother came outside Tuesday morning, police say.

A Sachem High School North was approached by man while she was waiting at a bus stop in Holbrook Tuesday morning, school officials say.
Here's the letter Sachem Superintendent Kenneth Graham has sent to parents:
Earlier today we learned of an incident that occurred this morning at one of our bus stops for Sachem North High School. One of our students states that she was approached at the bus stop by a man in a hoody. He appeared to have come from a light colored van with no side windows.

The student also indicated that there was a second man in the van. One of the men approached the student and asked her how old she was, and where she lived. When the student’s grandmother came outside one man fled on foot and the other fled in the van. This incident occurred within the Grundy Avenue attendance zone off of Grundy Avenue.
I commend our students for being cautious, and for notifying us immediately. Please make it a priority in your home to review and stress the importance of being alert to “stranger danger.” Remind your child not to talk to strangers and develop a plan for how to respond, where to go, and who to call. If possible, we advise students to walk to and from bus stops and school with a buddy or group.
