Many Long Island comedians starting out today realize the difficulties of the business. Stage time is a challenge. The field is getting overcrowded. They have to find other outlets for their creativity. They start up their own comedy shows in various bars, restaurants and coffee houses across Nassau and Suffolk. Another growing medium is starting a podcast or internet radio show.
Copiague’s Adam D. Parsons, on the comedy scene for just 18 months, has been doing both. Adam runs a monthly show at Revolution Bar and Music Hall in Amityville. Comedians, whether they be newbies or veterans, come to work out new material on a professional stage.
Adam also co-hosts a video podcast called Train Wreck Comedy and Podcasts, which started October 2012, with co-comedian Mike Keegan. Originally in his apartment, the podcast has now moved to Revolution Bar. The show features interviews and banter with seasoned and new comedians. I have personally listened to most of the comedy podcasts out there and I can honestly say that Adam’s is one of the best. I found it entertaining.

As a former drummer and an active member of Toastmasters, Adam decided to try his hand at stand-up after seeing comedian Mike Yard. Always looking to change up his act from one-liners to comedic stories, Adam is growing and learning as a comedian. He welcomes feedback from all comedians, gets frustrated by the challenge of writing new material, like any other comic, but understands success is all on him.
His goal is to become recognized in the comedy circles. It takes time and he is driven to get there. I would say he is doing all the right things.
