Suffolk Police Investigating String Of 12 Smash-And-Grabs
They started at Lemon Tree in Holbrook, and then continued in Lake Grove, Bohemia, East Setauket, and Smithtown.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk police are investigating a string of 12 overnight break-ins where the glass doors of businesses were smashed and cash was stolen.
The break-ins spanned three precincts and started in Holbrook, but also included Lake Grove, Smithtown, Bohemia, and East Setauket.
The first burglary took place at Lemon Tree on Furrows Road sometime between 3:30 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, when a rear glass door was broken and cash was stolen.

On Sept. 29, Cafe Timboo in Smithtown was broken into between 1:55 and 2:35 a.m., then on Friday, Luka’s Café and Deli in Holbrook was burglarized at about 12:25 a.m.
At about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, a brick was thrown through a front glass door at Mayra's Bakery in Lake Grove, and some cash was stolen.

Then the following day, just after midnight on Sunday, Dunkin’ on East Main Street in East Setauket was also broken into, though police did not say if anything was stolen.
Police said that in all of the burglaries, a man broke a window or glass door then went inside the business and stole cash.
The burglaries continued on Monday before ending on Thursday.
On Monday, Luka’s Café and Deli in Holbrook was broken into at about 1:05 a.m., and a man "stole an ATM and, with the help of another man, loaded it into a waiting SUV," police said.
Tai Show North in Setauket was burglarized at about 8:10 a.m.
Dunkin’ in Bohemia was broken into 8 p.m. Oct. 4 and 4:30 a.m. Oct. 5.
On Wednesday at about 1:15 a.m., a rear glass door was broken and money was taken from Edesia Pizzeria in Bohemia.
But the break-ins didn't stop there.
A little less than an hour later at 2:35 a.m., Carolina Kitchen in Medford was broken into, but nothing was taken.
And at 4:30 a.m., a concrete block was thrown through a glass door at Hummus Mediterranean in Holbrook. Money was also taken.
One local business described the break-in at Hummus Mediteranian as "sick."
"People are crazy," writes Chubs Meats on its Instagram page. "I hate that this happens."
The post goes on to say that the owner hates even more that it happens to great people like the business owners and then asks followers to keep their eyes "open to the animal."
"Let’s hope he gets caught ASAP," the post continues. "While that happens, go grab a bite to eat there. Their Mediterranean menu is the best around."
The final break-in took place at Horseblock Heros in Medford at about 5:25 a.m. on Thursday.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the burglaries to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
