Good morning, neighbors! It's me, Andrew Tessler, your host of the Daily. Let's get this Wednesday started off right with a quick guide to the most important things happening these days in town, including updates on:

But first, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 53 low: 31.

Here are the top stories today in Sachem:

  1. Police release vehicle description in deadly Holbrook hit-and-run. A white Jeep Grand Cherokee model year 2016 or newer with right front quarter panel damage is the vehicle police are telling the public to look out for. Alan Lepre, 59, was left for dead on Veterans Memorial Highway early Sunday after being hit by the vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Sachem Patch)
  2. Lynx found roaming on Long Island gets forever home for the holidays. The lynx was found roaming Central Islip and believed to be someone's illegal pet. Leonardo DiCatbrio now has his permanent home at the Holtsville Ecology Center and has gained 15 healthy lbs. Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Chief Roy Gross said, "It's got everything in there. It's got plenty of room to run around. It's got his toys in there. It's very well cared for." (Sachem Patch)
  3. Check out new homes for sale in the Town of Brookhaven. These are the freshest homes to hit the market, and range in price and location. Click the link to see photos and learn more about each home. (Sachem Patch)
  4. Holbrook Chamber of Commerce to host a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 3.
It will begin at 4:30 p.m. at 975 Main Street in front of shopping center with The Irish Times pub. Arrive early to avoid parking issues. (Sachem Patch)
