WATCH: Sachem North's Amanda Flynn's Foot Locker Scholarship Video

My name is Amanda Flynn and I am a senior at Sachem North High School. Throughout my years at Sachem North I participated in field hockey and spring track and field. I was a two-year captain of the varsity field hockey team. Sachem gave me the opportunity to excel on the field as well as in the classroom. Sports throughout my high school career have helped me to achieve my goals. Sports gave me determination to succeed. It was a lot of commitment but in the end it was worth it.

I applied for this specific scholarship because I thought that the description they were looking for described me perfectly. I am passionate about the sport that I play and I enjoy being a leader of my team. Outside of sports I am an active member in my community.

I volunteer at my local guide dog foundation and this past fall I was apart of the “Dirty Dozen” at my school that is a huge contribution to the school food drive. We provided over 700 families Thanksgiving dinners our small group alone. In the classroom sports have provided me the structure to stay on a schedule and keep my average GPA strong. I believe that I have embodied the traits that Foot Locker is looking for in this scholarship.
