Here are the top three stories today in Sachem:
- World's oldest dog and Long Island native Pebbles passes at age 22. The toy fox terrier died Monday just five months shy of her 23rd birthday. Pebbles was born on Long Island in 2002 and moved with her family to South Carolina in 2007. She received the Guinness World Record for the oldest dog in the world earlier this year. (Sachem Patch)
- Sachem Central School District recognized National Merit commended students. The district had six students named Commended Students as part of the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Although they don't go on to compete for National Merit Scholarships, the students do become candidates for scholarships through outside sources. (Press Release Desk)
- ICYMI: Suffolk Police ask the public for help to identify three suspects who stole a catalytic converter in Holtsville last month. The theft took place on Gazebo Lane on Sept. 15 just after 5 a.m., with three suspects using a hydraulic lift and cutting tools to steal the catalytic converter from a Honda Accord. There is a video of the theft in the link and if you can, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS with any information. (Sachem Patch)
