The morning of May 9th will be a busy one at Baxter’s Pond!  Please join the Baxter's Pond Foundation (BPF) at 9 am for a Clean Up Event to pick up litter, do some planting, and make our park beautiful. All ages welcome!  Meet at the flagpole in comfortable clothing; gloves and garbage bags provided. At 10 am, the native-landscaping professionals from Spadefoot Design &amp; Construction will provide volunteers with hands-on training in how to maintain the new native plantings at Baxter’s Pond while keeping invasives from making a comeback. Buy tickets now for the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library's 57th Annual Book &amp; Author Luncheon on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Garden City Hotel from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The event will feature Emma Straub, bestselling author of "This Time Tomorrow" and "All Adults Here," discussing her new novel "American Fantasy" (coming April 7), one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. She will appear in conversation with acclaimed novelist Meg Wolitzer, author of "The Female Persuasion" and "The Wife."

Port Promenade Returns to Main Street This Summer 
Port Washington’s popular summer street festival, Port Promenade, returns to Main Street for two Thursday evenings this summer — June 18 and July 16, 2026 — from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each night. On June 18, Main Street will be closed from Library Drive to Central Drive. On July 16, the event will move to Upper Main Street, with closures from Port Washington Boulevard to Mackey Avenue. The car-free, family-friendly event will feature live music, outdoor dining, shopping, and activities for all ages. Attendees are encouraged to check the Try Port First app for updates, entertainment schedules, and event details.Port Promenade is co-hosted by the Port Washington BID, Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, and Landmark on Main Street, with support from the Town of North Hempstead and the Port Washington Police Department. Port Washington BID and Precision Work, Inc. are the event sponsors.
