11 Bayport-Blue Point Students Chosen For NYSSMA and All-County
Congratulations to the chosen students on their accomplishments!

BAYPORT, NY — Eleven Bayport-Blue Point High School students have been selected to participate in festivals and ensembles on both the county and state level.
The Bayport-Blue Point School District announced Wednesday that Airlea Deutscher was chosen to sing as a jazz soprano in the New York State School Music Association’s All-State conference, to be held in Rochester, New York from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5.
Three students will also serve as alternates for the state competition: Christian Capitano, for string bass; Katie D’Ambrosio, a soprano; and Jessica Schaller, for clarinet.

The students auditioned among thousands of musicians across the state and were selected based on their scores and judge’s recommendations.
Several students were also accepted into the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association All-County jazz ensembles. Logan Cirone, Katie D’Ambrosio, Airlea Deutscher, Madison Espinoza, Gabe Ross and Sam Stenzinger will perform as vocalists. Brendan Mattimore will play in the instrumental ensemble.

The student-musicians were selected through an audition process among hundreds of applicants and will perform with the county’s top student- musicians at the SCMEA Day of Jazz, to be held on Nov. 6 at East Islip High School.
