12th Annual Sayville Summer Series Registration Opens

12th Annual Summer Series Registration Opens, Directors Welcome New Race

Sayville, NY – This summer, Long Island natives near and far will toe the line for the Sayville Summer Series, a competition hinging on the completion of five charitable races, which has become an anticipated tradition within the local running community.

To the upwards of 1,000 participants from last year’s event, many of the races will look familiar. However, this year also marks the start of some new beginnings. Alongside the Keith Nintzel Memorial 5k Run & Walk, Community Ambulance 5K Run & Walk, Cystic Fibrosis Waffle 4 Mile Run and Walk, and Hon. John P. Cohalan Sayville Summerfest 4 Mile Run, directors will be welcoming the Sayville Fire Department 5k Run & Walk, inheriting the course from the 5K Shwachman Diamond Dash, whose “last dash” was last summer.

“The Sayville Fire Department has been a longtime supporter and participant of the Shwachman Diamond Dash. When myself and a few members of the department decided to start our own race, we opted to keep it going on the Sunrise Drive Elementary school route, through our scenic streets of Sayville,” said race director Thomas Pantano.

In addition to cash prizes awarded to top series finishers, this year’s competition will include the inaugural first responder’s cup – an award presented to the fire department, precinct or ambulance company with the highest number of participants in all five races.

For those who sign up before March 3rd, the full series will cost $95. From March 1st on, participants will pay $100.
