5 Hospitalized After Boat Crashes Into Jetty

SAYVILLE, NY - Five people were hospitalized after a boat crashed into a jetty in Sayville this past weekend.

Suffolk Police responded after a 23-foot Center Console Sportsman boat struck a Jetty in the Great South Bay, off Browns River Road, at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday.

When Marine Bureau officers arrived, the six passengers were standing on the jetty.

Five of the passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The Sayville Fire Department also responded along with the Community Ambulance Company to help the five people with injuries.

Mutual aid was provided by the Bayport Fire Department for their boat and SCUBA team and West Sayville Fire Department stood by with an engine at Sayville Fire Department Headquarters.
