Academy Students Earn Publishing Credits
Students craft original pieces for Newsday's Kidsday section.

The world of journalism was at the fingertips of Kim Rall’s fourth-grade class at Academy Elementary School when they recently crafted original pieces for Newsday’s Kidsday section.
Working under the guidance of Newsday Editor Pat Mullooly, students created jokes, puzzles, surveys and articles on a wide array of topics, including Flo’s Luncheonette to book review on unreleased titles. In the coming weeks, several students will travel to New York City to conduct an interview with a yet-to-be-named celebrity. The venture has enabled the class to strengthen not only their writing skills but also their research and photography abilities.
The completed entries will be published in Newsday this April.
