
If you hate snow, we've got a good news/bad news situation for you. The good: It's looking like the weekend is going to end up dry. The bad: Long Island is expected to see 2-3 inches of snow Friday with the potential for up to 5 inches of accumulation.
"Rain and snow should arrive around or a little after midnight [Friday] with the bulk of any accumulating snow occurring between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. before low pressure moves out to the east Friday afternoon," Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News, wrote on his website.

A second storm system that is headed for the East Coast this weekend is now expected to stay well south of the region and spare Long Island any snow.
"The storm for Sunday is off the table but there could be another threat for snow Monday night and Tuesday," Cioffi said.

The full forecast:
Tuesday Night- Showers. Steady temperature around 49. Southwest wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Wednesday- A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a southwest wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.
Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 11 to 13 mph.
Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Thursday Night- A slight chance of rain between 9pm and midnight, then a chance of rain and snow. Increasing clouds, with a low around 32. West wind 6 to 9 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday- Snow likely, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 36. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
