Man Tries To Rob TD Bank In Sayville: Suffolk Police

A 911 caller told police just before 11 a.m. a teller was given a note demanding cash, but the suspect ran away empty-handed, police said.

SAYVILLE, NY — A man tried to rob TD Bank on North Main Street in Sayville Friday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Police said that at about 11 a.m., the man passed a teller a note demanding cash, but ran away empty-handed. They were notified of the attempted robbery by a 911 caller, according to a spokesperson.

The man was described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, according to police.

No further information was released about the investigation, which is being continued by Major Case Unit detectives.

A bank representative could not be reached for comment.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, according to the police.
