Bayport-Blue Point Names Alumnus As Next Superintendent

The 1997 graduate of the district has served Bayport-Blue Point as a teacher and administrator.

BAYPORT-BLUE POINT, NY — The Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education has appointed Robert E. Haas as the district’s next superintendent of schools.

Haas, a graduate of Bayport-Blue Point High School’s Class of 1997, has spent his career serving the district. He began as a social studies teacher before moving into leadership roles, including assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal and, most recently, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

Haas earned a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Post-Master’s Professional Certificate in School Administration from Stony Brook University. His longtime connection to Bayport-Blue Point as a student, educator and administrator has given him a deep understanding of the district, its

The board of education expressed confidence in Haas’ ability to build on the district’s strong foundation and continue the positive momentum established under retiring Superintendent Dr. Timothy P. Hearney.

“I am deeply honored and sincerely grateful to the board of education for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve as superintendent of schools for the Bayport-Blue Point School District,” Haas said. “It is a privilege to continue serving this extraordinary community, and I look forward to working alongside our board, faculty, staff, students, families and community to build upon the tradition of excellence that defines Bayport-Blue Point.”
