Bayport-Blue Point School Budget Passes

The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.

BAYPORT-BLUE POINT, NY — Residents within the Bayport-Blue Point School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 1,993 votes to 839.

Residents voted on the district's proposed $75,603,645 spending plan for the school year, a 2.94 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $53,944,254 up 3.81 percent from the current year's.

This year, constituents voted by absentee ballot due to the coronavirus.

In addition, both school board trustees were elected. Daniene Byrne received 2,150 votes and Michael Miller received 2,143 votes. Ronald F. Devine Jr. was also elected to the library trustee election with 2,188 votes.
